Helpful Hints for Attending the American Transplant Congress

All activities for American Transplant Congress will take place in the San Diego Convention Center unless otherwise noted.

Registration

All attendees must register for all events they wish to attend during the meeting. Registration is located outside Hall D of the San Diego Convention Center.

The hours of registration are:

  Friday, April 30 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm
  Saturday, May 1 7:00 am – 8:00 pm
  Sunday, May 2 7:00 am – 6:30 pm
  Monday, May 3 7:00 am – 6:30 pm
  Tuesday, May 4 7:00 am – 6:30 pm
  Wednesday, May 5 7:00 am – 1:00 pm

Badge Pickup at the Meeting

All badges must be picked up when you arrive at the registration desk located outside Hall D of the San Diego Convention Center. An email with a bar code will be sent to each registrant prior to the meeting. There are special computers set up for "Express Check In" where you scan your bar code and then proceed to "Badge Pick up." If you are registered but do not receive your email bar code, the procedure is simple, just go to the preregistration desk, give your name to the clerk and your badge will be printed for you.

The American Transplant Congress Program (supplement to the American Journal of Transplantation), mini-program, Pre-meeting syllabus (if applicable) and meeting bag will be available at badge pickup. Badge Pickup is located outside Hall D of the San Diego Convention Center.

Pre-Meeting Symposia

This year there are six Pre-Meeting Symposia. Essential Immunology for the Clinician and Transplantation Immunology for Basic Scientists are full day sessions. Updates in Clinical Transplantation and Pediatric Transplantation will take place on Saturday morning. Strategies to Expand the Liver Donor Pool and Hot Topics in Infectious Disease: An Audience Response Program will be presented on Saturday afternoon. If you pre-registered for any of the symposia you will receive a ribbon to affix to your badge. You must have the ribbon on your badge in order to attend the course. If you have not pre-registered and wish to do so, you can easily add this event at registration. One syllabus for all the sessions is available during badge pickup for attendees registered for the pre-meeting sessions.

Sunrise Symposia

Sunrise Symposia are offered each morning Sunday-Wednesday from 7:00 – 8:15 am. Registration for these is included in your annual meeting registration. Continental breakfast will be available each day at 6:30 am outside the meeting rooms.

Early Morning Workshops

These small focused sessions will take place Sunday – Wednesday. If you registered for Early Morning Workshops, tickets for these events are attached to your badge. If you do not find tickets for these events, this means that your selection or alternate selection was filled to capacity. If you registered by credit card, your card was not charged. If you registered by check, a refund will be sent to you after the meeting. These are limited attendance events and once a workshop is filled, we will not increase the number. You cannot enter the workshops without a ticket. Please check at the registration desk for availability of workshops.

Exhibits

The exhibits are located in Hall D of the San Diego Convention Center. Exhibits are an integral part of the complete educational experience featuring the latest in technology and research in the field of transplantation medicine. Detailed information on the exhibits is included in the final program.

  Sunday, May 2 9:30 am – 1:00 pm
3:30 pm – 6:30 pm
  Monday, May 3 9:30 am – 1:00 pm

  Tuesday, May 4 9:30 am - 1:00 pm

Daily Newspaper

ATC will publish a daily newspaper, Sunday – Tuesday. Updates on daily events and stories about both associations will be included.

Refund Policy

Requests for refunds must be received in writing by April 23, 2010 to be reimbursed. There is a $75.00 processing fee for all refunds. Refunds are not processed until after the meeting. Refund requests received after April 23, 2010 are not honored. There are no refunds for EMW's or social events.

Lead Retrieval

Your badge includes with a barcode that can be scanned by exhibiting companies during show hours to capture your name and address for follow up information.

American Journal of Transplantation

Wiley-Blackwell, the publisher of the American Journal of Transplantation, has a booth in the exhibit hall. All attendees are encouraged to visit Booths 100/102 to pick up a free copy.

Shuttle Bus

There is no shuttle bus service between the convention center and hotels.

Continuing Education

  • Physicians
  • The ASTS designates this educational activity for a maximum of 34.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
  • Pharmacists
  • This activity is eligible for ACPE credit. See final activity material for specific details.
  • Nurses
  • This is a CNE activity. See final activity material for specific details.
  • Transplant Coordinators
  • As a designated Approved Provider by the American Board for Transplant Certification (ABTC), Amedco grants up to 34.25 Category 1 Continuing Education Points for Transplant Coordinators (CEPTCs) for this offering. CEPTC Provider Number: #689.
  • Online Evaluation Completion
  • The American Transplant Congress has online program evaluation and CME certificate. You can access the evaluation at any email station in the Cyber Cafe by clicking on www.ATCcertificate.com. Follow the easy instructions for completion. There are no paper evaluations so be sure to go online and complete your evaluation.

Member Services

ASTS and AST have membership booths located in the lobby outside Hall E of the San Diego Convention Center. Membership, future meeting information, public policy information, and society literature as well as computer demonstrations of the ASTS and AST Home Pages will be available. Members and non-members are encouraged to stop by to find out about the many benefits of ASTS and AST membership.

Information/ Restaurant Reservation

An Information/Restaurant Reservation desk is located on the lobby level outside Hall E and is open 9:00 am – 5:00 pm daily.

Press Room

There is an American Transplant Congress Press Room located in Room 23A.

Speaker Ready Rooms (Slide Preview)

The Speaker Ready/Slide Preview room for all presenters is located in Room 21 of the San Diego Convention Center. Please be sure to check in your slides 24 hours before your presentation.

Baggage/Coat Check

A baggage/coat check will be located in the lobby outside Hall D on Tuesday and Wednesday. Fees will be posted onsite.

Cell Phones

As a courtesy to other attendees, please turn off your cell phone during sessions.

Poster Sessions

All posters are setup and viewed during the following hours:

Saturday, May 1:  
  Setup 2:00 – 4:00 pm
  Viewing Time 4:00 – 8:00 pm
  Presentation 6:00 – 8:00 pm
Sunday - Tuesday, May 2 – May 4:  
  Setup 7:00 am – 8:00 am
  Viewing Time 8:00 am – 6:30 pm
  Presentation 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm

Posters are to be removed immediately following the end of poster viewing. Any poster left on the board will be removed and can be picked up at the Freeman desk in back of the hall. Any posters not picked up at the end of the meeting are discarded. All poster sessions take place in Exhibit Hall E of the San Diego Convention Center.

Cyber Café/ Message Center

Keep in touch with home and office! Complimentary email stations are available outside of Hall D of the San Diego Convention Center. This area is open during registration hours. There are sufficient stations open for checking your email; however, you are limited to 15 minute sessions. There are additional stations available inside the exhibit hall, Hall D, which is open during exhibit hours. As a special service to ATC attendees, there is free wireless internet access on the 3rd level of the San Diego Convention Center, outside of Ballroom 20 lobby, network code: ATC2010

Attendees can call x5490 from house phones to inquire about lost items.

Printing Services

FedEx is located in Lobby D. Their standard hours are Monday-Friday 8am-5pm and Saturday-Sunday 9am-5pm.

ATM

ATMs are located in lobbies B and E.

ATC Night Out

By popular demand, we bring you the party of all parties–ATC Night Out! Come hang out at the Hard Rock Hotel, under the stars of beautiful San Diego, on the hip outdoor upper deck plaza. A cash bar will be available. ATC Night out will be held Tuesday, May 4th from 9:00 pm – 1:00 am. This is a ticketed event. Check at registration for availability.

ATC On Demand

New This Year! ATC will offer recordings of the Pre-Meeting, Sunrise, Midday and State of the Art Sessions! ATC On Demand will be available only to registered attendees for $129. A Learning Center Information booth will be located in the foyer of Hall E. You must be registered for the annual meeting to receive the discounted rate for ATC On Demand. After the congress, fees will increase.
