Transplant Community Personal Connections

The Transplant Community rate of $99 is available by request only and is intended for individuals attending in a personal, non-professional capacity, including:

Transplant candidates and recipients
Living donors
Deceased donor family members
Caregivers

Not eligible: Anyone with a professional affiliation to a transplant, donation, or related organization (employment, advocacy, policy, clinical, or operational roles), even if they also have a personal connection to transplantation.

Examples of ineligible individuals:
- A kidney recipient employed by a transplant-related organization
- A living donor presenting an abstract or attending on behalf of a company
- An individual who founded or operates a transplant- or donation-focused nonprofit

To register, please contact Brooke Iarkowski, Transplant Community Manager, at biarkowski@myast.org. ATC may deny or reclassify registrations that do not meet the criteria.

Transplant Community Non-Profit Organizations

The Nonprofit Community rate of $200 is available by request only for individuals who represent small, volunteer-run nonprofits related to donation, transplantation, or patient support. Eligible organizations must:

Be a registered nonprofit or community-based organization
File the IRS Form 990-N (“postcard”) or equivalent
Operate without paid full-time staff (volunteer-led)

Examples of eligible individuals:

A heart recipient who founded a 501(c)(3) filing a 990-N
A living donor running a small volunteer awareness organization
A donor family member leading a local community education initiative

Individuals from larger nonprofits or organizations with paid staff, professional operations, or advocacy/policy/clinical functions are not eligible and must register under the member or non-member categories.

Medical Students

Student Members of ASTS or AST can attend in-person for $49. To register, select the “Student” category.

Student Decision Tree

Member Doctoral

Current Doctoral members of AST and Regular members of ASTS, or both societies. This category includes MD or equivalent medical doctoral degrees.

Member Non-Medical Doctoral

Current Non-Medical Doctoral members of AST. This category includes non-medical doctoral degrees, including PhD, PharmD, DNP.

Member Non-Doctoral

Current Non-Doctoral members of AST, and Associate Members of ASTS, or both societies who hold non-doctoral degrees are eligible to register under this category. This category includes the following occupation types:

Research Assistant
Nurse
Physician's Assistant
Transplant Coordinator
Transplant Administrator
Lab Technician
Pharmacy Technician
Other Allied Health or Pharmacy Occupations

Member Trainee

Current trainee member of either AST, ASTS, or both societies. This category includes interns and residents.

Member Senior Emeritus

Current Senior Emeritus member of either AST, ASTS, or both societies.

Affiliate Members

Current Affiliate Members of either AST or ASTS. This is applicable to those employed in the healthcare industry with a business or strategic interest in the field of transplantation. For example, CEOs, National Directors, or others involved in the transplant industry without clinical or scientific roles.

Non-Member

If you have no membership affiliation to AST or ASTS, you should register as a non-member.
